Editor’s Note: I have followed the Slip, Clip and Go blog for a long time and was very happy a few weeks ago when I read that Karen (one of the two bloggers for that site) had started her own coffee business. Karen offered to send me samples of the coffee so I could review them, but unfortunately I am not a coffee drinker. When I was a little child my mother told me that I couldn’t have coffee until I grew up, and according to my wife I still have some work to do. However, Anna, a good friend and fellow cyclist, agreed to try the coffee and write a review.
Before I give you Anna’s review I want to tell you two things about Sip, Clip and Go Coffee. First, even though I am not a coffee drinker, this product has an incredible aroma. As I was opening the package Karen sent my wife was walking by and said, “That coffee smells fantastic!” Second, the packaging this coffee comes in is superb. A good part of my livelihood over the years has come through graphic design and I have to tell you that each bag of coffee is a work of art! As Anna mentions in her review, you might want to have this coffee on hand just to make a statement about your love of cycling.
Sip, Clip and Go Coffee For Cyclists
Sip, Clip and Go Coffee has three varieties, Carbon-Free Commuter medium dark roast, Off The Chain medium dark roast, and Crank Set dark roast. I brewed all three in my Mr. Coffee set on strong and I drank them black—which is how I normally take coffee in the summer.
Carbon Free Commuter was first and the lightest of the three having a crisp sharpness and distinctly more acidic taste than the other two brews. Off The Chain was next, with a mellow familiar coffee pallet, not too strong or bitter, a nice cup of coffee.
Finally, I sampled Crank Set and found that it had the same mellow notes as Off The Chain, with a more assertive flavor. I preferred this one over the first two, as I tend toward a strong coffee presence. All in all it’s good coffee.
The packaging is distinctly geared toward cyclists and I think it would make a great gift for a cyclist, or something they can have at work or at home that reinforces a biker’s message of “I Like My Bike!”

Gourmet products usually have gourmet prices. It also has a lot to do with it being 100% Organic and Fair Trade (food products brought into this country via child or slave labor are usually cheaper).

Whoa. Neat idea, but very expensive. I like my bike too, but mine has a clip on basket for food… and one speed. Maybe sipping this would help my lazy bum up a hill. 🙂

There are two products that might be of interest to you. First, Karen at Sip, Clip and Go has a “Travel Tumbler” that sells for $20, and Trek has the “Trek SOHO Coffee Mug” (these products look nearly identical). I will be reviewing the Trek mug in a few weeks. I used the Trek mug last winter form keeping hot chocolate warm on my rides.

I use my contigo mug for carrying my coffee on my bike. Keeps things super hot and you just squeeze the little handle at the top to drink–but really not big enough. So can’t wait to see these.
