In February we had our fourth worst blizzard in history and I only had to miss two days on the bike. I could have made it out a day sooner, but after spending five hours shoveling my driveway I wasn’t really motivated. At the moment I am 250 miles ahead of where I planned to be by March 31. Providing I don’t get hit by a car, this could be my best year ever!
A short ride on my bike last Friday put me over 1,000 miles for the year, and that means I still have another 4,000 miles to go before I reach my goal. Actually my goal for this year is 5,001 miles because a good friend of mine set his goal for 5,000 miles.
I think every cyclist can think of some bike, saddle, jacket or light that just rocked their world and enabled them to ride faster and better than ever before.
In future posts I want to review some of the products that have helped me along the way. In the past 10 years I have purchased a lot of worthless cycling products, but I have also been able to find some incredible products from small manufacturers that have made a big difference in the way I ride.

5001 you say? That will be a full year of riding. You’re off to a great start!

You are an inspiration! It was 30 degrees with strong NE winds and snow squalls last weekend. Great day for my longest ride YTD – 42 miles in 2-1/2 hours, all small chain ring. Surprised I didn’t freeze to death. Glad to get the miles in, but look forward to 70 and sunny!
